Applications: Dashboards

Cordiem Dashboard
The “Dashboard” was an example of Second Generation Navigation (SGN) and provided a multi “Portlet” tool, allowing the user to drive to an online B2B application as subsequent events or alerts would warrant. Like a broker’s terminal, all the information needed to complete a day’s work was updated and present on each subscribed user’s desktop.

Auctions
Auctions were used to sell down both OEM and airline inventory. Auctions would include fuel, parts and even commodity items like plastic flatware. Both auction holder and bidder could observe a real time bid-plot, thereby obtaining an at-a-glance standing of all bids in progress.

What is Second Generation Navigation?
In a nutshell, it is "pulled" content, guided by presets on alerts and events. Professionals (particularly in buy/sell roles) need tools to get the job done and not "browse". How much browsing does a stockbroker do? Not much. In fact he or she only uses conventional navigation when they have to fine-tune the content within one of their terminal windows.
