Cordiem LLC
The Cordiem web site was corporate in natured but acted as an industry portal entrance to Airline specific buy/sell applications (see Application Work). Aside from providing information about Cordiem, the company, it acted as a product showcase for its own b2b web offering, with detailed product descriptions. Cordiem was winner in its class of the Forbes Magazine “Best of Web 2002”.

VerticalNet
This site prototype was created to extend VerticalNet’s corporate site into an intuitive entry to its 57 vertical industry portals. The site provides the user with subject and search path to locate the industries that would best suit the user’s buy/sell needs. It was created before VerticalNet made a formal decision to focus exclusively on software development and sell off its 57 industry portals.

Portal Door
At the time of the execution of this design VerticalNet was still developing its industry specific buy/sell/info portals. Due to a need within industries to put more of their transactions online VerticalNet followed the path into software development and competed directly with generic B2B industry software solutions. Time would prove this to be the correct market position for VerticalNet. For more information on VerticalNet’s proven success story go to www.verticalnet.com.

Cordiem and the Airlines
Originally formed as an investment based company, the events of 9/11 forced Cordiem to move to a revenue based model. Founders turned customers included eight airlines: Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Iberia Airlines, United Airlines, United Parcel Service and three original equipment manufacturers (OEMs): Goodrich Corporation, Honeywell International Inc, and United Technologies Corporation.

Although Cordiem’s products were used widely, the downward economic climate within the industry forced Cordiem to close its doors early in 2003.
